Mizukara Karate Clubs recently held a course and grading for their students in Carnalea Methodist Centre, Bangor. As always, the standards expected were challenging, but despite this a number of students excelled in their performances.
The highest grade achieved on this occasion was 3rd Kyu brown belt for Susanna Reavy. Coach David Brashaw commented “Susanna has been training a number of years. She recently medalled in both the Irish National Championships. She is very deserving of her first brown belt.”
What was also amazing were the number of first-class successes at a grading, probably the most we have ever had at a grading.
The successful belts attained by students from around Ards and North Down were:
• Red & White belt – James Boyd & Ryan Wilson
• Red belt – Ted Curran, Nicole Craig, Luke Curran, Niamh Parker, Aoife Ryan, Lexi Stannage, David Ryan, Freddie Willis, Sophia Ryan, Henry Brook, Amber Curran, Rila Matthews & Kurt Magreehan.
• Yellow belt with a white stripe – Noah Parker, Eli Cave, Tyler McBride, Heidi Magreehan, Cooper McEvilly, Ethan Calwell & Catherine Pringle.
• Yellow belt – Kyle Hanna, Bella Cordner, Alicia Laines, Oliver Prohaszka & Lucy Fee.
• Yellow & orange belt – Helena Stitt.
• Orange belt – Angela McEvilly, Viet Phan, Graham Cave, Kath Stevenson & An Lee.
• Green belt – Sophie Hamilton, Olivia De La Hoz, Peter Kelly & Rachel Brogan.
• Brown belt – Susanna Reavy
Coach Brashaw added “I was delighted with the commitment and effort by our students for this grading. The togetherness and positivity of our members is fantastic to see.”
